# hello
My name is Heather and I am a writer, editor, teacher, PhD candidate, and all-around person.
I don't know that I'm using this space as well as I should. I don't know if I want it to be an archive, or some sort of sandbox. When I had the last two iterations of this site, I thought I had a plan. Now that I'm using Obsidian Publish and can focus on the text and not the backend, I'm at a bit of a loss. What should go here? What do I want to display? And, what is worth saving?
I am envious of those that have long-standing blogs, like 30+ years and how they've managed to stay consistent in, not just posting, but not destroying and rebuilding due to the desperate need for novelty or a challenge.
When I was a kid, that was called being "bright", or "she's too smart for school", and "think of her potential!" Is there a kinder, more insidious set up for failure? I can't think of one.
It's time for a reset when you're wishing for something to have been all along. You have to wish for something to change right now, not in the past. When the future becomes the now, it's too late for wishes. Only doing for the future to come. Or some shit.
## recent hblog posts
Any idea that I want to spend more than 200 words on will go here. I have some longer essays in the works coming soon. This will also be the archive of older pieces. Some of them are off-the-cuff rants, others are responses tied to a particular class I took. I hope to go back even farther into my digital history and share some real *gems*.

### hbits
I don't think the logs will be particularly interesting. Most of the items I write there are personal anyway. So I'm going to start "planting a garden" as it were, with ideas and comments from things I've read and seen online.
